Help & Support Center
Need help connecting? Find quick solutions below to the most common web conferencing issues on the BERNET platform.
1. Audio & Microphone Issues
Cannot Join Audio
/Ensure your web browser has permission to access your microphone. Look for a camera/microphone icon in your browser’s URL address bar and change it to “Allow”.
Hearing an Echo
/We highly recommend using headphones with an integrated microphone to prevent audio loopbacks.
WebRTC Error 1007
/This means your network firewall is blocking the UDP media ports. Try switching from your local institutional Wi-Fi to a mobile data connection, or contact your institution’s IT department to unblock UDP ports.
2. Screen Sharing & Webcams
- Screen Share Blocked: On macOS, you must grant your web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari) permission to record your screen in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen & System Audio Recording.
- Webcam Not Detected: Close other applications (like Zoom, MS Teams, or Skype) that might be running in the background and locking your camera.
3. Recommended Browsers
For the absolute best performance, use the latest versions of these HTML5 compliant browsers:
- Desktop: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge.
- Mobile/Tablet: Safari (iOS) or Google Chrome (Android).
